1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing and using The Plaintiff ("the Platform", "we", "our", or "us"), you accept and agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree to these terms, please do not use our platform. These terms apply to all visitors, users, and professionals who access or use the platform.

2. Description of Service

The Plaintiff is an online platform that connects clients with verified legal professionals, therapists, teachers, and other service providers in Nigeria. We provide tools for booking sessions, case diary management, expense tracking, video conferencing, and community forums.

3. User Accounts

  • You must register with accurate and complete information.
  • You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials.
  • You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.
  • One person may not maintain more than one account.
  • We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Professional Verification

Professionals listed on The Plaintiff undergo a verification process. However, we do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or quality of any professional's credentials, advice, or services. Users are encouraged to conduct their own due diligence before engaging any professional.

5. Payments and Fees

  • All payments are processed securely via Paystack.
  • Subscription fees for Case Diary and Expense Tracker are non-refundable after activation.
  • Session booking fees are held in escrow until services are rendered.
  • Disputes regarding payments are handled through our dispute resolution process.
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice.

6. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the platform for unlawful purposes.
  • Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
  • Harass, abuse, or threaten other users or professionals.
  • Attempt to bypass or manipulate our verification or payment systems.
  • Scrape, crawl, or automate access to the platform without written permission.
  • Share your account credentials with third parties.

7. Content Ownership

You retain ownership of content you post on the platform. By posting, you grant The Plaintiff a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display and distribute your content within the platform. We may remove content that violates our policies.

8. Limitation of Liability

The Plaintiff is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform, including any professional advice received through the platform. Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

10. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. Continued use of the platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms. We will notify registered users of significant changes via email.
